I truly appreciate your willingness to open up about this. I’m glad to be working at a point in time where there is more awareness and acceptance, although there is still a long way to go.

How timely. I am out on leave as we speak - latent trauma from the death of a parent compounded with sky high stress at work finally broke me.

The time off has been restorative and allowed me to really ponder the things that are ailing me, and the things I want to change.

I’m actually really grateful for the leadership at my employers’s HR department, who explained my options to me and encouraged me to take advantage of them.

I had to do the same thing (same employer). I have since found my peace and I am also discovering purpose. Your authentic and courageous face to the world is a gift. Keep it up.

You did one of the hardest and best things you could have done in that situation - taking the time away that you needed to restore and navigate what’s next. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. People collapse the entire experience into “burnout” but IMO, it doesn’t remotely capture the physical, mental, and emotional toll that it takes on you when you’re in that spot.

I’m glad you’re onto something new and hopefully more sustainable and supportive for you.

Thanks Cheyanne, appreciate all of your friendship and support! It can be quite difficult to acknowledge that you need help -- it was for me, and I suspect it is for many others, too -- because it feels so much like failure. But I'm so glad I stepped away ... it was key to me remembering what was important to me.
